The Final Fifty Souls
Rescued By
The Tynemouth Motor Lifeboat Henry Vernon
An admiralty telegram dated 2nd November,
lists the names of the final fifty souls as below. They spent an entire
weekend coincidentally also fifty hours on the wreckage without food
or water and in gale / storm conditions.

The names and whereabouts of
the remaining people rescued still proved elusive. |
The Tynemouth Motor Lifeboat Henry Vernon
had battled bravely through the same gale conditions as the Rohilla.
Yet as a much smaller vessel it amazed everyone in saving those listed
above, perhaps in time the identities of those not listed will be revealed.
